It's Not Bonfire Night…
Posted by: Lois Lindemann on: November 4th, 2007 Posted in: Uncategorized Tags for this post: Random Musings.
Ooh, aah… aren’t the fireworks pretty. My neighbours are busy celebrating the festival of “The Sunday Before Bonfire Night”. Personally, I opted to celebrate “The Saturday Before Bonfire Night” at a friend’s firework party -and very nice it was too, despite being on the wrong day.
Now this may make me seem sad and pedantic, but I quite like the idea of celebrating things on the right day. I can see that there are two sides to this:
Practical self: Everyone has to go to work on Tuesday morning, the weekend is so much more convenient etc
Pedantic self: Why are we setting fireworks off on a random date because we are all too busy/old/sad to get out and socialise on a Monday night?
Anyway, that’s enough moaning, time to go and eat that Christmas dinner…

The real three-legged cat
Welcome! Hi, I'm Lois Lindemann. Welcome to my blog!
This is where I blither on about life, the universe and everything - sometimes even three-legged cats.
I am: a resident of Sheffield (it's been my home town for more than 20 years), a Londoner, a teacher of maths and ICT and a student of French.
I like: cats, Sheffield, walking, doing the pub quiz, maths, cooking, reading, red wine, theatre, weekends in London, cycling, eating out, museums, gardening, going to the cinema, real ale, learning French and spending far too much time online. (My partner, Mr TLC, says this is making me sound like a lonely hearts ad. Oh well.)
