Anyone who has visited the Crucible theatre in Sheffield will remember that carpet*. The wild colours and design appealed to some but were hated by others.
I thought that it was the end of the line for this little bit of Sheffield’s heritage; the “famous and unique” foyer carpet is scheduled to be removed and replaced now that the Crucible is entering the final phase of its renovation.
Apparently it’s not quite the end of line though, at least not if enough people can be persuaded to shell out £50 to become the proud owners of about two square feet of rather well-worn liquorice allsort inspired flooring.
It may be a once in a lifetime opportunity to own a piece of Crucible memorabilia, and it may be raising much-needed funds for the renovation, but I think I’ll be giving it a miss.

It looks gloriously psychedelic! At least get some pix of it before it goes!
