Wirksworth Festival – Part One

So little time, so much to do…

Sometimes we’re spoiled for choice, which was definitely the case a couple of weeks ago: would it be the opening stage of the Tour of Britain that grabbed our attention, or maybe one of many tempting Heritage Open Days? Alternatively it was Art and Architecture weekend at Wirksworth. I’d like to have done everything, but we had to choose – and Wirksworth Festival won.

The Art and Architecture trail is brilliant. We trailed around a large section of the town, visiting the ‘galleries’ in gardens, people’s homes, shop windows, the town hall…

The fish and chip shop was sporting a Bottle Bank Aquarium, made by artist Debbie Beesley:

Traidcraft’s window had acquired some fabulous felted sculptures by Denise Stanton.

Local school children had collaborated with an artist to make a jungle scene:

All this and fabulous weather. What more could we ask?
