Mr TLC obviously felt that Super Mum had not tested the services of the NHS rigorously enough, so he decided to take on a spot of testing himself.
It started with a bang, the sort of bang made by a man who has [...]
Posted by: Lois Lindemann on: September 18th, 2010 Posted in: Life Tags for this post: Mr TLC | My Life | The Job. … but a little procrastination won’t hurt. Isn’t that what weekends are for?
Anyhoo, it must be time for a quick catch up, so here it is:
I’m now two weeks into my new job and still very happy that I’ve moved. I’m still trying to remember a great many names, getting lost/walking in circles [...]
Posted by: Lois Lindemann on: August 17th, 2010 Posted in: Life Tags for this post: Mr TLC | My Life | The Job. Hello! Remember me? I’ve been exceedingly busy doing a great many things, some interesting, some not (such is life), so here’s a quick update:
I have been to Paris, which went something like this: count children onto a bus, set off, travel a bit, count children, arrive at science museum, count children, have a brilliant [...]
Posted by: Lois Lindemann on: May 9th, 2010 Posted in: Life Tags for this post: People Watching | The Job. We were sitting in a very quiet pub early yesterday evening, waiting for some friends to meet us for a pre-curry drink, when a guy who was sitting at the other side of the room finally stopped having a loud, booming conversation into his mobile phone and started having a loud, booming conversation with his [...]
Posted by: Lois Lindemann on: March 11th, 2010 Posted in: Life Tags for this post: The Job. I didn’t think it existed, but it does, I’ve found it.
Found what? Nothing less than the secret spark, the magic dust from Hollywood movies, the miraculous way to grab the attention of all my pupils.
I know I’ve found it, because today it happened: I walked down the corridor and turned into a modern [...]
Posted by: Lois Lindemann on: March 8th, 2010 Posted in: Life Tags for this post: The Job. I have been doing a lot of thinking lately. Well, I have to do something with my time – and it certainly hasn’t been filled with blogging.
I’ve been thinking about how much I love working at Current School.
I’ve been thinking about how friendly and supportive my colleagues are.
I’ve been thinking about my [...]
Posted by: Lois Lindemann on: February 12th, 2010 Posted in: Life Tags for this post: The Job. It’s Friday afternoon, it’s a quarter to three… It’s quiz time! At least, it is for my form group.
Today we indulged in a spot of geography (which is slightly ridiculous, given that the quizmaster – *ahem* that’ll be me – is notoriously geographically challenged), followed by a few IT acronyms.
All went well until [...]
Posted by: Lois Lindemann on: February 6th, 2010 Posted in: Life Tags for this post: Mr TLC | My Life | The Job. Thursday (Ofsted – 4 days) My day starts, as usual on Thursdays, with a group of wildly enthusiastic primary students. I arrive at my own school at break to be greeted by The News. *They* have called. Well, we were expecting it – bring it on. Am I coming into school at the weekend? Absolutley [...]
Posted by: Lois Lindemann on: January 30th, 2010 Posted in: Life Tags for this post: My Life | The Job. I’m sorry I can’t get to the blog right now, but please leave your message after the beep…
Things are a bit busy just now. We got the call on Thursday, Ofsted arrive on Monday. I have a lot of paper to generate. Probably no time for blogging, not even for sneaky back posts
[...]
Posted by: Lois Lindemann on: January 12th, 2010 Posted in: Life Tags for this post: The Job. Only two students at my ICT Club today, apparently I just can’t compete with all that rather exciting snowy stuff.
So there we were, chatting away, when Phoenix suddenly announced that he was creating an awesome pawn arrangement. That gave me a moment or two of mild anxiety blind panic before my brain caught up [...]

The real three-legged cat
Welcome! Hi, I'm Lois Lindemann. Welcome to my blog!
This is where I blither on about life, the universe and everything - sometimes even three-legged cats.
I am: a resident of Sheffield (it's been my home town for more than 20 years), a Londoner, a teacher of maths and ICT and a student of French.
I like: cats, Sheffield, walking, doing the pub quiz, maths, cooking, reading, red wine, theatre, weekends in London, cycling, eating out, museums, gardening, going to the cinema, real ale, learning French and spending far too much time online. (My partner, Mr TLC, says this is making me sound like a lonely hearts ad. Oh well.)
Any opinions expressed in this blog are my own, I don't claim to speak for anyone else in education or outside of it. If you disagree, feel free to comment!
