Temptation. That would be what I experienced just after one of my fellow road users obligingly pulled in right in front of me, into the space that wasn’t actually there.
As I slammed on the brakes I did not see my life flash before my eyes, nor did I experience road rage. I did [...]

Actually, make that EPIC FAIL.
Anyhoo, how are you? (She says, changing the subject, whilst shuffling in a slightly embarrassed kind of way.)

So that resolution isn’t going so well, she says, sneakily back-posting to fill in the gap… (Today was a family day and I didn’t get near a computer. Which is no bad thing actually, because it was also a good day.)

I don’t know what it is is about this time of year, but I always seem to spend some of my Easter holiday having a clear out: files on the laptop, junk in the cellar, old spices in the kitchen cupboard. I’ve even put up the racks for holding ladders and Mr TLC’s bicycles [...]

We caught a brief glimpse of Fabulous Mr Fox* on the way home tonight. First sighting this year. Must be spring.
*I’m know that many people do not find Mr Fox to be fabulous, but I like him. I’m sure I’d feel differently if I lived somewhere a little less urban and kept [...]

I am in danger of turning into something I do not wish to be, namely a grumpy looking character who says [assumes special whiny voice] ‘I haven’t got tiiime…’ far too often.
The ‘I haven’t got time’ thing is rubbish. I have 24 hours a day, no more and no less than anyone else. [...]

I spent today dating, American style. Why? Because 4 01 2009 is just so more interesting than plain old April Fool’s Day. 4012009 is in fact a perfect square, something I found far more interesting than anyone else, but fear not, I didn’t let that stop me from telling, oh, just about everyone. For [...]

It could have happened a few weeks ago, when I taught several classes how to look critically at websites. Given that I’m a cheapskate who hides bits and pieces for this site in the domain that I run for my students, there were plenty of trails of Smarties to follow that would lead them [...]

This morning, by way of a little light relief after the rigours of their GCSE exam yesterday, I set my Y9 group the task of researching pi and Pi Day in order to make some posters for display.
They made some brilliant posters. My favourite was the one from which I discovered that ‘Pi [...]

Ooh look, the world didn’t end. Which is kind of surprising, because I hadn’t given much thought to anything AMM (that’s After Monday Morning by the way), but here I am, surprised to find myself living in that unexpected epoch.
Have you ever been so focused on one key event that you can’t seem [...]

The real three-legged cat
Welcome! Hi, I'm Lois Lindemann. Welcome to my blog!
This is where I blither on about life, the universe and everything - sometimes even three-legged cats.
I am: a resident of Sheffield (it's been my home town for more than 20 years), a Londoner, a teacher of maths and ICT and a student of French.
I like: cats, Sheffield, walking, doing the pub quiz, maths, cooking, reading, red wine, theatre, weekends in London, cycling, eating out, museums, gardening, going to the cinema, real ale, learning French and spending far too much time online. (My partner, Mr TLC, says this is making me sound like a lonely hearts ad. Oh well.)
Any opinions expressed in this blog are my own, I don't claim to speak for anyone else in education or outside of it. If you disagree, feel free to comment!
