A couple of days after I found out about the book binge, a lot of students arrived to one of my lessons clutching books. When you see a book called Teacher’s Dead on a student’s desk, you have to ask what’s going on, especially when on closer inspection the author turns out to be the very excellent Benjamin Zephaniah.
The students are reading and reviewing books for the 2008 Sheffield Children’s Book Award. Some of the books look pretty good, so I’m going to include them in my reading list.
These are the ones we’ll be reading:
Alis by Naomi Rich
Teacher’s Dead by Benjamin Zephaniah

Finding Violet Park by Jenny Valentine (Hmm, A quick Google reveals that unfortunately this author shares her name with a rather dubious website. Oh dear. Obviously my links take you to the author, not dodgy/adult content!)
