It felt pretty cold to me today, which got me thinking about winter. Admittedly it’s not most people’s favourite season, but I like many things about it. I also like spurious lists, so here is the official TLC guide to 10 things I like about winter:
- Spending more time with Mr TLC (less cycling for him in winter weather)
- Snuggling up in front of the fire
- Eating stews and casseroles
- Going out for a walk on a frosty day
- Coming inside out of the cold and warming up
- Our ginger cat being at home instead of living outdoors
- Doing the Christmas shopping
- Drinking hot chocolate
- The beautiful colours of evergreen shrubs and dogwoods in the garden
- A winter flowering viburnum bursting into a mass of pink blooms
Simple pleasures to savour all the winter long.

Aah, you’ve got me there, it’s a tough one to justify!
Although I did persuade my sister to buy me 40 chickens and a supply of seeds last year. (Or was that a bad combination? Did the chickens eat the seeds?)
